The Catalonia Waste Cluster (CREC) has formalised a collaboration agreement with ESIC Business & Marketing School to establish a stable framework for cooperation in strategic areas including talent development, education and training, knowledge transfer, and business growth within the waste management sector.

This project addresses one of the key challenges of the green transition: social opposition to bioenergy plants, waste treatment facilities, and renewable energy projects.

This exercise helped identify new industrial synergies and potential opportunities for the development of prototypes and pilot projects between companies from different sectors.

The transition of the lubricants sector is not just a trend—it is a necessity. During the workshop, the key regulatory changes that will shape the coming years and directly impact companies across the sector were discussed.

The collaborative project is promoted by the Waste Cluster, the MAV Cluster, Tèxtils.CAT and the Packaging Cluster, bringing together companies, knowledge centers and key stakeholders to foster industrial symbiosis and the circular economy.

The Waste Cluster (CREC) visited the Formació i Treball facility in Sabadell as part of the activities of its Textile Waste Working Group. The visit provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into a model that combines circular economy principles, technological innovation, and social impact, while also creating a valuable space for exchange and discussion among the participating companies and organizations.

We held CREC Ordinary and Extraordinary Assembly at the Social Hub in Barcelona, ​​where we held elections for the new CREC Board of Directors and presented our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan.

On April 25th we had a very enriching experience visiting the Tersa Group's Integral Waste Recovery Plant.

We are opening new offices. Since the beginning of 2025, we have been working from the offices of the new Innovation and Circular Economy Hub of Barcelona, ​​located at Ciutat d'Asunción, 16, in the Sant Andreu neighborhood.

On May 13th we will hold the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assembly of CREC. The Assembly will take place at the HUB Social, located at Carrer Girona, 34 (08010 Barcelona).

From April 8 to 11th we traveled to Germany, with the aim of discovering leading solutions in waste management and recovery up close.

Our Cluster Manager, Carmen López- Quintana, participated in the Basque Circular Summit 2025, in Bilbao, on April 2. This is one of the most relevant circular economy meetings in southern Europe.

With the name "Analysis of new circular models around RCDs and validation through a phase of on-site experimentation" this project seeks to find innovative solutions through circular business models.

Within the framework of the Efficient Collection Systems Working Group of the Waste Cluster, on 10 July we visited the Conca de Barberà Pilot Project.

On 4 June, we held the first Cluster Tech Day, an enriching day of knowledge transfer where we got to know EURECAT’S innovative solutions for the management and recovery of complex and textile waste and on the value chain of batteries.

The Waste Cluster of Catalonia has achieved the necessary requirements to be one of the 27 clusters certified by ACCIÓ within the Catalan Clusters Programme.

On 21 May, we held the first Ordinary Meeting of Partners of the Waste Cluster of Catalonia.
