Grant call: Grants for projects promoting the circular economy 2024.

The SINTEC project – Intersectoral Synergies for the Circular Economy – is driven by four Catalan clusters: CREC – Waste Cluster, Advanced Materials Cluster, Tèxtils.Cat, and the Packaging Cluster.

The objective of the project is to study the circularity of waste from the technical textile industry, especially those with high polymer content, for their reuse in new materials for the packaging sector. Advanced textile waste has an increasing environmental impact due to its difficulty in recycling, the use of toxic substances, and the low rate of reuse. This issue has been addressed in previous initiatives, but the SINTEC project presents an innovative approach: an intersectoral collaboration between four clusters to maximize resource efficiency and generate novel industrial symbiosis models.

Consortium

  • Coordination: CREC – Clúster de Residus de Catalunya
  • Participants: Tèxtils.cat, Packaging Clúster i Clúster MAV

Specific Objectives

  • Identify specific opportunities for industrial symbiosis among the four clusters.
  • Develop and recommend specific actions for each cluster, as well as collaborative actions between clusters.
  • Increase awareness and knowledge of circular economy practices among cluster members.
  • Identify potential new business models based on circular economy principles.
