Analysis of high-efficiency collection systems from the perspective of service provider companies, identifying business opportunities to strengthen their competitiveness.

This project aims to analyze real experiences of municipal waste collection systems in order to identify best practices and areas for improvement. The innovative component of this project lies in the fact that the study is designed as a tool to enhance the competitiveness of companies within the value chain of the selective collection sector, rather than for municipal entities, which have been the primary target of studies and guidelines published to date.

This project arises from the need of companies within the Cluster’s working group to gain detailed insight into the improvement gaps of municipalities that have implemented high-efficiency collection systems, which, despite achieving significant improvements in selective collection rates, have encountered weaknesses and challenges that can be further improved.

Consortium

Coordination: CREC – Clúster de Residus de Catalunya

Participants: Datambient, ENT, ENTORNA3

Specific Objectives

  • Obtain relevant data and indicators for the companies involved in the pilot projects under study.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement based on indicators derived from the geographical and socioeconomic characteristics of each project, enabling the scaling of models to other similar territories.
  • Support companies in the municipal collection value chain in developing technological solutions to address and improve the weaknesses and challenges identified in the analyzed pilots.
  • Obtain high-value information for waste collection service providers to design new business models and innovative services.
  • Support startups and technology companies developing innovative solutions for waste management.
