The SINTEC project – Intersectoral Synergies for the Circular Economy – is led by four Catalan clusters: CREC – Waste Cluster, Advanced Materials Cluster, Tèxtils.Cat, and the Packaging Cluster.
The aim of the project is to study the circularity of waste from the technical textile industry, especially those with a high polymer content, for its reuse in new materials for the packaging sector. Advanced textile waste presents a growing environmental impact due to its difficulty to recycle, the use of toxic substances, and its low reuse rate. This challenge has already been addressed in different initiatives, but the SINTEC project introduces an innovative approach: intersectoral collaboration between four clusters to maximize resource efficiency and generate unprecedented industrial symbiosis models.
This second workshop is part of a SINTEC project working pathway that began with an initial session in May, where shared challenges and common needs among participating companies were identified. In this session, we will work on defining business models and collaboration projects that were initially explored in the first workshop held last December. The project will conclude with a final event on April 28, 2026, where the conclusions and identified opportunities will be presented.
During the session, we will share real experiences with an expert panel:
- Montse Monedero, Catalan Waste Agency
- Anareth Cavuquila, Leitat
- Verònica Kuchinow, Símbiosy
