On 9 July, CREC took part in the 14th Strategic Immersion for Cluster Teams (14a Immersió Estratègica d’Equips Clúster), an event organized by ACCIÓ that brought together cluster teams from across Catalonia to reflect on the past, present and future of clusters, as well as their role in an increasingly dynamic and fast-changing environment.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange knowledge, share experiences and best practices, and strengthen collaboration among Catalonia’s cluster ecosystem. It also reinforced the importance of clusters as key drivers of innovation, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
One of the main themes of the day was Artificial Intelligence (AI). The opening keynote, “La IA no existeix. I la feina tampoc.” (“AI Doesn’t Exist. Neither Does Work.”), delivered by Josep M. Ganyet, challenged conventional perspectives on AI and explored its impact on the future of work and business.
The programme continued with two panel discussions that explored AI as a catalyst for sectoral transformation and examined how data spaces can enhance business strategy and competitiveness. Through practical examples and real-world initiatives, speakers highlighted the opportunities these technologies offer to accelerate innovation and create value across different industries.
In the afternoon, participants joined collaborative working groups focused on AI projects and data spaces developed by Catalonia’s cluster organizations. These sessions encouraged the exchange of ideas, the identification of common challenges and the creation of new opportunities for collaboration among cluster teams.

The event concluded with an inspiring conversation featuring Carissa Véliz, Associate Professor at the University of Oxford and a leading expert in AI ethics. She invited participants to reflect on the social impact of artificial intelligence and emphasized the importance of ensuring that people and ethical values remain at the heart of its development and adoption.
At CREC, we highly value our participation in this latest edition of the Strategic Immersion for Cluster Teams, which continues to be an important forum for fostering innovation, collaboration and competitiveness across Catalonia’s cluster ecosystem. We would like to thank ACCIÓ for organizing another successful edition that inspires us to continue working together to address the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of our sectors.
